May 1 through November 1: Phase III Water Restrictions
Effective May 1, 2021 through November 1, 2021 Phase III Water Restrictions will be in place. Even numbered properties will be restricted to Mondays between 5:00 am to 8:00 am. Odd numbered properties will be restricted to Tuesday 5:00 am to 8:00 am. These tighter restrictions are a result of exceeding the performance standard of 65 residential gallons per capita per day set by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Our residential gallons per capita per day was 72 for calendar year 2020 and this is primarily influenced by excessive outdoor watering. These tighter restrictions will remain in effect for all of 2021 unless further restrictions are required. At this time the Massachusetts Drought Taskforce has issued a Level 2 Significant Drought Advisory for all of southeastern Massachusetts limiting non-essential outdoor use. We ask residents to check and reduce the operation of their irrigation systems and follow the prescribed day and operational hours. Residents will be notified if further emergency restrictions are required. Please visit the Easton Water Division web page at for more https://www.easton.ma.us/departments/dpw/water_division/index.php

Pond Street Paving Project
As part of the Town of Easton's ongoing pavement management program, the paving of Pond Street is scheduled to begin the week of June 1st. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes during this time. Police Details will be on scene to assist and direct traffic through and around the work zones. The first phase of work includes reclamation of the existing asphalt surface. This phase of the work will take approximately one week. Following the reclamation process the initial layer of asphalt will be installed, followed by sidewalk work, and then the installation of the final course of asphalt later this summer. Thank you for your patience as we make improvements to the Town of Easton's roadways. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (508) 230-0800 or dfield at easton.ma.us<mailto:dfield at easton.ma.us>.

Black Brook Road Paving Project
As part of the Town of Easton's ongoing pavement management program, the resurfacing of Black Brook Road is scheduled to begin Tuesday June 1st. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes during this time. Police Details will be on scene to assist and direct traffic through and around the work zones. The work involves the installation of two separate roadway treatments. Beginning on June 1st the first phase of work will include the milling of the existing roadway surface. Following the milling the first roadway treatment will be installed later in June. This first treatment is a stress absorbing interlayer known as "rubber chip seal." This treatment involves the installation of a layer of stone chips embedded in asphalt. This will not be the final surface of the road. The second treatment, which will follow shortly after the first treatment, will be a conventional warm mix asphalt overlay. Residents should be aware that until the final asphalt surface is applied there will be some loose stone present from the rubber chip seal application. This is normal and the DPW will sweep the roadway periodically to reduce the volume of loose stone until the final asphalt surface can be applied. These two treatments combined will provide a new wearing surface and significantly extend the life of the road. After the installation of both treatments the DPW will be paving new driveway transitions as needed in the following weeks. Please be advised that the dates referenced are subject to delays from weather. Thank you for your patience as we make improvements to the Town of Easton's roadways. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (508) 230-0800 or dfield at easton.ma.us<mailto:dfield at easton.ma.us>.

Depot Street Reconstruction Project
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has begun a road improvement project on Depot Street (Route 123), between Newell Circle and Washington Street (Route 138). This project is intended to address deteriorated pavement and multi-modal accommodation through reconstruction of the roadway (minor widening) to provide bicycle accommodation in addition to reconstructed sidewalks and extensions. The project is 2 miles in length. A traffic signal is proposed at the Depot Street/Center Street/Porter Street intersection. The project also includes drainage upgrades, a new water main, and new pavement markings and signs. Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Please visit https://www.easton.ma.us/departments/dpw/depot.php for more information and updates on the project.
