Town Offices Closed for Thanksgiving
In observance of Thanksgiving, the Town Offices will close at 12:30pm Wednesday, November 27th and will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday November 29th.
Town Office hours for the week of November 25th are as follows: Monday - 8:30am - 7:30pm; Tuesday 8:30am - 4:30pm; Wednesday 8:30am - 12:30pm; Thursday & Friday - Closed.
Ending of Restriction on Outdoor Activities Town of Easton, Chapter 332 (mosquito-borne illnesses)
Easton has experienced a hard frost. Please note that the restriction on outdoor activities voted on August 7, 2019 by the Board of Health per Code of the Town of Easton, Chapter 332 (mosquito-borne illnesses), is no longer in effect.

Now through February 29: 2020 Dog Licensing
Dog licenses for 2020 are now available and must be completed BEFORE March 1st to avoid late fees. A current rabies certificate must be on file with the Town Clerk's Office in order to license your dog. To update your rabies on file please email<mailto:townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us> a copy to townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us<mailto:townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us>.
You may license your dog in one of the following ways:

·  License ONLINE<https://unipaygold.unibank.com/transactioninfo.aspx?TID=22364> (.25 bank convenience fee with electronic check) and your licenses and tags will be mailed directly to you ($1.00 postage & handling fee).

·  License in Person - You may stop by the Town Clerk's Office during normal business hours. (Mondays 8:30AM - 7:30PM, Tues/Wed/Thur 8:30AM - 4:30PM, Fri 8:30AM-12:30PM)

Notice to Property Owners in Queset Sewer District
At this time the Queset Sewer District construction is substantially complete and ready for connections. Property owners in the Queset Sewer District that are part of the sewer project that would like to connect should contact a Licensed Drain Layer or contact a contractor who is eligible to become licensed to begin the process of connecting to sewer. The cost to connect to the sewer lines installed by the Town is the responsibility of the property owner. We recommend getting as many quotes as possible for the work and to be clear on what is or is not included in the scope of work (i.e. restoration of lawns, driveways, walkways, removal of trees, internal plumbing changes, abandonment of septic or cesspool, pumping of the old system, cost of permits, etc.). Only Licensed Drain Layers (or those applying to be licensed) may apply for a sewer permit. The Town of Easton will license contractors that have experience installing municipal sanitary sewer, possess the required insurance, and have posted a $5,000 performance bond. Five Corners Sewer Construction Project: Phase II
Phase II of the Five Corners Sewer Project includes installation of a sanitary sewer collection system from Roberts Drive along Route 106 down Foundry Street to the Five Corners area and will result in one-way traffic along Route 106 during most of the construction. The greatest amount of traffic is anticipated to occur during morning commuting hours. South Coast Rail Project

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is transitioning all project websites into the newly designed, statewide website. The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure readings for Easton residents on a walk in basis (no appointment needed) according to the following Tuesday schedule. Please note the Public Health nurse will be able to do blood pressure readings, not Blood Sugar.

December 7: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Reopening Easton Fire Department.
The Easton Fire Department cordially invites the public to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Reopening of the newly renovated Fire Station #2 located at 87 Depot Street on December 7, 2019. There will be a Ribbon Cutting at 10AM and an Open House with lunch from 11:30AM - 1PM. Addition and renovation by Douglas King Builders.
Week of December 16: Bulky Item Pick-up
The week of December 16, 2019 will be the next "FREE BULK ITEM" pickup week for Waste Management customers. If you are enrolled in our Waste Management trash program, you can put one (1) large item curbside on your regular trash day to be picked up at no charge to you. No need to call the office, just have your item out at 7:00 a.m. You can find the list of acceptable items on the Town's website. Any questions call the DPW @ 508-230-0800.
Now through April 1, 2020: Real Estate Exemption Applications for FY2020 Now Available
Applications for real estate property tax exemptions for FY2020 are now available through the Easton Assessors' Office. The town offers many exemptions designed to reduce property tax for qualifying seniors and disabled residents. Exemptions include:

·     Elderly, for those age 65 and older who qualify by income and assets;

·     Widow, widower, persons over 70 or minor surviving child with asset limit;

·     Disabled veterans, blind, tax deferral; and

·     Community Preservation Act with income limits

Now through December 17: Photography Competition & Preservation Awards
The Easton Historical Commission is accepting photographs through December 17, 2019 for the 20th Annual Photography Competition, Sunday January 26, 2020 from 1PM-3PM at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall. Recipients of the Chaffin Award (for an individual making a significant contribution to historic preservation in Easton) and the Briggs Award (for a building or landscape project significant to Easton's historical integrity) will be announced at the event. Photographs should be taken in Easton and should be on the themes of The Historic Beauty of Easton, The Natural Beauty of Easton, The Beauty of Easton Through its People, or The Pets/Animals of Easton. Free Town of Easton Community Calendar
The free town of Easton Community Calendar from September 2019 through August 2020, prepared and published by the North Easton Savings Bank, is now available. In addition to listing town, school and organizational events, it included information about civic and religious groups, community activities, and a brief history of the 135 years of the Ames Free Library. Assisted by the Easton Country Club, Morse Insurance, and Scoreboard Enterprises, the calendar is a valuable resource for all residents. Calendars are available at the Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Town Offices, and all Easton branches of the North Easton Savings Bank.

November 29: Community Meditation
10:30am - 11:30 am; Queset House, 2nd Floor Conference Room. Want to share mindfulness skills and meet other folks with contemplative practices? Welcome to an open, peer-to-peer meditation sangha, where we will sit together for 30 minutes of meditation in a low key, supportive environment. Anyone with a meditation practice in any tradition is welcome. Facilitators are doubly welcome! Please bring a cushion for sitting. Free and open to all.

November 30: Original Easton Farmer's Market is at its Winter Location, the Fellowship Hall at 143 Lincoln Street, from 10AM-2PM
The 2019-20 winter Original Easton Farmer's Market (OEFM), which began on Saturday, November 2, and runs through Saturday, May 23, 2020 is held every Saturday, with market hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The OEFM winter location is inside the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (HTLC), at 143 Lincoln Street, in North Easton. For the Saturday, November 30, 2019 OEFM our vendors of locally grown, locally made, and locally raised are Oakdale Farms (fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, potted plants, jam, jellies, oils, and vinegars), Lady C & J Soulfood & Catering INC. November 30: Sewing Machine One-on-One
11am-1pm. Event Location: Queset House, 2nd Floor Makerspace. Have you previously sewn on a sewing machine but find yourself without one? Not to worry the Ames Free Library has a sewing machine available for your use in the Queset House. Schedule a time with Julie so that she can introduce you to the Janome sewing machine. Once you have used the Janome sewing machine in this 30 minute tutorial you can check out the machine for in library use. Sessions are held on the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Saturday of the month from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, and are by appointment only.
