Easton has experienced a hard frost. Please note that the restriction on outdoor activities voted on August 7, 2019 by the Board of Health per Code of the Town of Easton, Chapter 332 (mosquito-borne illnesses), is no longer in effect.

ONLINE Dog Licensing Now Available
2020 Dog licenses are now available ONLINE<https://unipaygold.unibank.com/transactioninfo.aspx?TID=22364>. To license online, search by Dog ID# (can be found on a previous year's license - this is not the dog tag #) or enter your last name, street name and/or dog name. Residents will only be able to use the online dog licensing service if the rabies certificate that is on file in the Town Clerk's Office is current at the time of licensing.
To update your rabies on file please email<mailto:townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us> a copy to townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us<mailto:townclerksoffice at easton.ma.us> and allow time for internal processing before attempting to license online. Please note that the bank charges .25 to pay by electronic check and a $1.00 postage & handling fee will be charged for each online license issued. Dog licenses and tags will be mailed directly to you. You may also license your dog in person at the Town Clerk's Office beginning November 18th.
Notice to Property Owners in Queset Sewer District
At this time the Queset Sewer District construction is substantially complete and ready for connections. Property owners in the Queset Sewer District that are part of the sewer project that would like to connect should contact a Licensed Drain Layer or contact a contractor who is eligible to become licensed to begin the process of connecting to sewer. The cost to connect to the sewer lines installed by the Town is the responsibility of the property owner. We recommend getting as many quotes as possible for the work and to be clear on what is or is not included in the scope of work (i.e. restoration of lawns, driveways, walkways, removal of trees, internal plumbing changes, abandonment of septic or cesspool, pumping of the old system, cost of permits, etc.). Only Licensed Drain Layers (or those applying to be licensed) may apply for a sewer permit. The Town of Easton will license contractors that have experience installing municipal sanitary sewer, possess the required insurance, and have posted a $5,000 performance bond. Five Corners Sewer Construction Project: Phase II
Phase II of the Five Corners Sewer Project includes installation of a sanitary sewer collection system from Roberts Drive along Route 106 down Foundry Street to the Five Corners area and will result in one-way traffic along Route 106 during most of the construction. The greatest amount of traffic is anticipated to occur during morning commuting hours. South Coast Rail Project

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is transitioning all project websites into the newly designed, statewide website. The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure readings for Easton residents on a walk in basis (no appointment needed) according to the following Tuesday schedule. Please note the Public Health nurse will be able to do blood pressure readings, not Blood Sugar.

Now through End of November: Fire Station #2 at 87 Depot Street - Under Construction - Closed
Fire Station #2 on Depot Street will be closed through the end of November during construction to add an addition and renovate the existing station. Fire Personnel and apparatus will be housed during the period of construction at Fire Station #3; on Bay road. Please remember to call 911 immediately in the event of an emergency.
Now through April 1, 2020: Real Estate Exemption Applications for FY2020 Now Available
Applications for real estate property tax exemptions for FY2020 are now available through the Easton Assessors' Office. The town offers many exemptions designed to reduce property tax for qualifying seniors and disabled residents. Exemptions include:

·     Elderly, for those age 65 and older who qualify by income and assets;

·     Widow, widower, persons over 70 or minor surviving child with asset limit;

·     Disabled veterans, blind, tax deferral; and

·     Community Preservation Act with income limits

Now through December 17: Photography Competition & Preservation Awards
The Easton Historical Commission is accepting photographs through December 17, 2019 for the 20th Annual Photography Competition, Sunday January 26, 2020 from 1PM-3PM at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall. Recipients of the Chaffin Award (for an individual making a significant contribution to historic preservation in Easton) and the Briggs Award (for a building or landscape project significant to Easton's historical integrity) will be announced at the event. Photographs should be taken in Easton and should be on the themes of The Historic Beauty of Easton, The Natural Beauty of Easton, The Beauty of Easton Through its People, or The Pets/Animals of Easton. Free Town of Easton Community Calendar
The free town of Easton Community Calendar from September 2019 through August 2020, prepared and published by the North Easton Savings Bank, is now available. In addition to listing town, school and organizational events, it included information about civic and religious groups, community activities, and a brief history of the 135 years of the Ames Free Library. Assisted by the Easton Country Club, Morse Insurance, and Scoreboard Enterprises, the calendar is a valuable resource for all residents. Calendars are available at the Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Town Offices, and all Easton branches of the North Easton Savings Bank.

November 15: Community Meditation
10:30 am -11:30 am, Event Location: Queset House, 2nd Floor Conference Room. Want to share mindfulness skills and meet other folks with contemplative practices? Welcome to an open, peer-to-peer meditation sangha, where we will sit together for 30 minutes of meditation in a low key, supportive environment. Anyone with a meditation practice in any tradition is welcome. Facilitators are doubly welcome! Please bring a cushion for sitting. Free and open to all.
November 16: Original Easton Farmer's Market is at its winter location, the Fellowship Hall at 143 Lincoln Street, from 10AM-2PM

The 2019-20 winter Original Easton Farmer's Market (OEFM), which began on Saturday, November 2, and runs through Saturday, May 23, 2020 is held every Saturday, with market hours 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The OEFM winter location is inside the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (HTLC), at 143 Lincoln Street, in North Easton. For the Saturday, November 16, 2019 OEFM our vendors of locally grown, locally made, and locally raised are Lady C & J Soulfood & Catering INC. (barbecue and soul food), Bridgewater Village Bakery (sourdough bread, sourdough pastries, and sourdough-crusted chicken pot pies), Rosie Bud Farm (raw honey; soaps and lotions made from raw honey), Oakdale Farms (fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, potted plants, jam, jellies, oils, and vinegars), All Hands In (quality personal care products made by survivors of human trafficking and other forms of exploitation; proceeds of sales go to heal those who have suffered, and to fight and prevent, these abuses), Daddy's Home Grown (humanely and free-range raised beef, pork, and chicken), Knot Be Gone Therapeutic Massage (chair massages), Treats 2 Meet (hand-sewn blankets, scarves, and bags; gifts for people and pets), and Creative Confections (creatively designed gift chocolates).
November 16: Sewing Machine One-on-One
11am-1pm, Event Location: Queset House, 2nd Floor Makerspace. Have you previously sewn on a sewing machine but find yourself without one? Not to worry the Ames Free Library has a sewing machine available for your use in the Queset House. Schedule a time with Julie so that she can introduce you to the Janome sewing machine. Once you have used the Janome sewing machine in this 30 minute tutorial you can check out the machine for in library use. Sessions are held on the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Saturday of the month from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, and are by appointment only. November 16: Free Community Shred Day at the Bank of Easton
Bank of Easton is hosting a community Shred Day on November 16th. Safely shred unwanted confidential documents and records in Shred-it's secure shred truck for free! Hours: 8:30 am - 12:00 pm, or until the truck is full. Limited to one grocery-sized bag per car. Paper documents and records only! Location: Go to the rear of the 275 Washington Street Office. November 18 through November 19: Quilting
Monday 5:30pm-7:30pm and Tuesday, 2pm-4pm. Event Location: Queset House, 51 Main Street, 2nd Floor Conference Room. The Ames Free Library Quilting Group meets on the second Monday of every month and the second Tuesday of every month. The general format will allow for ideas, inspiration, and quilt chatter. Does talk of risk tolerance or asset allocation make you uneasy? Do you avoid financial planning because someone else in your household makes most of the financial decisions? Sit down with Mary to talk about some basic financial concepts from a woman's perspective. This is a discussion only and the goal is to make you more comfortable with finance and financial topics. November 20: Needle Worker's Group

Thursday, November 21, 2019 join us for a discussion with Debi Graham-Leard about her third and latest mystery, Bed, Breakfast, & Blackmail, featuring amateur sleuth Gwen Andrews. Book signing will follow the talk - free and open to all! Born in Delaware, Debi moved to southeastern Massachusetts in 1969. After she retired from her marketing position in the custom jewelry industry, she began to write her first mystery The Uninvited Guest, which was published in 2015. The second story in the series, Where There's Smoke, There's Trouble was published two years later.

If you need coaching on how to do this, visit Dan Paré at Queset House. Come learn about Libby and OverDrive, two apps and websites you can use to borrow eBooks for all Kindle devices, as well as audiobooks, magazines, and videos for Kindle Fires. You can also learn how to use the apps on your smart devices. When you come to your appointment, you're encouraged to bring your library card and Kindle (or smart device), as well as the sign-in info and password for the Amazon account connected to your Kindle, so you can practice borrowing a Kindle book during the coaching. The American Legion Post 7 Easton, Ma invites any interested veterans to their next meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. The Meeting begins at 7pm and normally runs until 8pm at the VFW Hall, 61 Rockland Street on the corner of Allen Road, Easton, MA.
