Queset Sewer Construction
The Queset Sewer Project is now under construction. The project will provide sewer service to the Queset Sewer District which includes Washington from Roosevelt Drive to County Lane, and includes portions of Belmont Street, Plymouth Drive, and County Lane. For the week of April 2nd, the contractor will be installing gravity sewer on County Lane.
DPW Storm Cleanup
The DPW is currently working on storm cleanup of tree debris from town property. We anticipate this effort will take many weeks. As part of this process and to be eligible for any potential FEMA funds that may become available our crews are documenting all debris collected and we are also videoing all completed areas. The DPW does not have the resources to collect debris from private property. As a service for residents, the Town will be hosting a tree debris drop-off for residents (no commercial landscapers or tree companies please) on April 14th between the hours of 8AM and 2PM at the former landfill located at 114 Prospect Street. Based on demand other dates may be added as needed.
Council on Aging
Snow Removal Reference List Applications are now being accepted:  To assist Easton residents who are unable to remove snow from their private property, The Town of Easton keeps a reference list of individuals willing to assist these residents with snow removal. This list is available in the Town Offices and at www.easton.ma.us/snow<http://www.easton.ma.us/snow>. If you are interested in applying to get on this referral list, you can find an application and more information on this webpage.

April 4:  Voter Registration Deadline - Annual Town Election
Wednesday, April 4th is the deadline to register to vote for the upcoming Annual Town Election that will be held on Tuesday, April 24th from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM. The Easton Town Clerks Office, located on the first floor of Town Hall, 136 Elm Street, will be open until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4th for voter registrations. Now through April 7: Emergency Certification to Cleanup and Repair Storm Damage in Wetland Areas
Due to the recent storms, the Easton Conservation Commission voted on Monday, March 5, 2018 to allow, for the next 30 days, the removal of felled trees from properties adjacent to town-owned land managed by the Conservation Commission and within wetland resource areas. Structures may be repaired to pre-storm conditions. Clean discharges from flooded buildings may be discharged into wetland areas; storm water management systems may be cleared, repaired but not expanded; and other activities of comparable scope to protect public health and safety.  Notify Andrea Langhauser, the Easton Environmental Planner, of needed storm repair so she can inspect the properties. Now through April 9:  NOTICE TO EASTON RESIDENTS - Annual System Flushing Program

Starting April 9th, the Water Division will be conducting its annual system flushing program to ensure the continued quality of our drinking water. We anticipate this program will last approximately 7-10 days. The water may become discolored due to the heavy use so please check before using. If you have any questions, call 508-230-0850.
April 9:  Representative Cronin to Hold Office Hours in Easton
Representative Claire D. Cronin (D-Easton) will be holding office hours and a discussion around safety with the Easton Fire Department on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Easton. Constituents are welcome to come and learn as well as discuss any constituent service matter with Representative Cronin. The office hours will take place on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 9:30-10:30AM at the Easton Housing Authority, Parker Terrace in the Community Room. April 11:  FEMA's Individual Preparedness Training - Sponsored by Easton Fire Department
Until Help Arrives - You are the HELP! This course will teach you basic skills to keep people with life-threatening injuries alive until professional help arrives. FEMA's New individual preparedness training for all experience levels, hands on training, learn simple skills that could save a life. Sponsored by the Easton Fire Department and Hosted by CERT. April 21:  Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Please be aware that on Saturday, April 21st, the Water Division will also be hosting the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the DPW facility located at 130 Center Street between 8A-12PM. In addition to accepting household hazardous waste, The Lions' Club will be present at the DPW to accept appliances and larger items for a fee. April 21:  Keep Easton Beautiful - 3rd Annual Great Easton Cleanup
Please join Keep Easton Beautiful in partnership with the Town of Easton DPW for our annual Great Easton Cleanup<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/great-massachusetts-clean-up-2018-easton-ma-registration-43006598895> on Sunday, April 21st at 8AM-11:30AM (volunteer for any amount of time you are available). Come out with friends and neighbors to volunteer for the Town of Easton and clean up YOUR neighborhood in this family friendly event. April 23:  12PM Deadline to Apply for an Absentee Ballot - Annual Town Election
Absentee Ballots for the Annual Town Election are now available at the Town Clerk's Office. Absentee Ballots are available for registered voters who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to absence from the Town during normal polling hours, physical disability preventing them from going to the polling place or religious belief. Registered voters must fill out an application<https://eastontownma.documents-on-demand.com/Document/b5791743-ccbd-e711-80bf-001fbc00ed85/Absentee%20Ballot%20Application%20-%202018%20Easton.pdf> which will allow them to complete an absentee ballot at the Town Clerks office or to have one mailed to them. The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is Monday, April 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon. Completed ballots must be received at the Town Clerks Office by the close of polls on Election Day (Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 8PM). Get out and vote. YOUR VOTE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Easton Community Calendars covering September 2017 through August 2018 are now available at the Town Offices, Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Frothingham Memorial Hall, and all Easton branches of North Easton Savings Bank. Town information, school events, and civic organization happenings are included. The FREE calendars are provided by North Easton Savings Bank, for the residents of Easton.
The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

Tuesday's - Ames Free Library Hosts Story Times for Infants and Toddlers
Have you met our new Children's Librarian, Jessica?  She hosts story times for infants and toddlers. Come check out Wiggle Worms each Tuesday from 10:30 - 11. This weekly event is for mobile toddlers! And we know that at this time of year, you all need to get those little ones MOVING. Wiggle Worms is a fast-paced story time with songs, rhymes, and stories to keep them occupied! This a great way to engage busy bodies with early literacy and opportunities for play. Crawlers and pre-walkers are also welcome. This program will run for about 20 minutes, followed by a playtime with toys that encourage both social and motor skills. No sign up is required; join us when you can. Event Location: Children's Room, Main Library.
Foster Parent Recruitment for the Department of Children and Families
Is there room in your home and heart for a foster child?  The Department of Children and Families is actively recruiting foster parents for children in Easton coming into care. We are searching for individuals or families with the love and patience to help foster children. You can be single, married, partnered, divorced or widowed. You can own your home or rent. We need homes for children aged 0 to 22, which include sibling groups, children with special needs, medically involved children, and infants born, exposed to drugs and older teens. We are looking for long-term foster homes but also have a need for emergency and respite homes, which involve a shorter time commitment on the part of a foster family. Our goal is to provide our foster children with a supportive and healing environment in a home in their own community until they can be reunited with their families or another plan can be made on their behalf. The rewards of providing daily care, guidance and acceptance are immeasurable. Saturday's:  Volunteers Needed to Support the Farmer's Market at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall
The Easton Agricultural Commission has increased the number of special activities planned for the year-round Saturday Market. If you'd like to support these community events, please consider volunteering for a few hours on a Saturday morning. Events planned through the end of April include: kids planting activity; musician; food demonstration; Earth Day upcycling event and continuing the popular guided tours of the historic Hall itself. 3rd Tuesday Every Month:  Sewing Machine One-on-One
Have you previously sewn on a sewing machine but find yourself without one?  Not to worry the Ames Free Library has a sewing machine available for your use in the Queset House. Schedule a time with Kathy Korona so that she can introduce you to the Necchi sewing machine. Once you have used the Necchi sewing machine in the 30-minute tutorial you can check out the machine for in library use. Sessions are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 3PM & 3:30PM, and are by appointment only. Please schedule your session on our website or call 508-238-2000, ext. 3. April 3:  Combining the Best of Two Worlds - Author Talk & Ames Free Library Foodie Group

Situating American Cookery within the post-Revolutionary effort to develop a distinct national identity, Stavely and Fitzgerald demonstrate the book's significance in cultural as well as culinary terms. Ultimately the separation between these categories dissolves as the authors show that the formation of "taste," in matters of food as well as other material expressions, was essential to building a consensus on what it was to be American. United Tastes explores multiple histories-of food, cookbooks, printing, material and literary culture, and region-to illuminate the meaning and affirm the importance of America's first cookbook. The event is from 6:30-7:30PM located at the Queset House.
Keith Stavely and Kathleen Fitzgerald are the authors of Northern Hospitality: Cooking by the Book in New England (University of Massachusetts Press, 2011) and America's Founding Food:  The Story of New England Cooking. Stavely, a former college literature teacher and retired library director, has been a Guggenheim and American Council of Learned Societies fellow and a winner of the Modern Language Association Prize for Independent Scholars for his book Puritan Legacies: Paradise Lost and the New England Tradition (Cornell University Press, 1987, paperback 1990). Fitzgerald has worked for many years as a librarian in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is currently Director of the Willett Free Library in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. They live in Jamestown, Rhode Island. After the talk, the authors will be happy to autograph their book which will be available for sale.
April 7:  Annual Egg Hunt for (ages 2-8) Date and Location Changed
Due to the snow and tree damage, the Annual Egg Hunt has been rescheduled and the location has changed. The Egg Hunt will be held at Edwin A. Keach Park, Chestnut St. North Easton, Saturday, April 7th. Don't forget to bring your basket for carrying eggs and wear your boots, just in case! There will be separate sections for different age groups and a special visit from the bunny. The hunt begins at 11am sharp! In case of inclement weather, the rain (snow) date is Sunday, April 8th. April 7:  Easton Shovel Town Cultural District - Annual Artist on Display Art Show & Art Stroll to Shovel Town Brewery
>From 4PM-7PM - FREE ADMISSION. Please join us on for our exciting Annual Artist on Display Art Show with a new added feature, Art Stroll!  This event will be held at 50 Oliver Street, North Easton in the lobby of the building floors one and two and will extend through the Easton Community Access Television offices. This show will feature fine art in painting and photography, wood turning, pottery, jewelry, textiles, raffles and more. Easton Community Access Television will offer a special viewing of their 90 second Film Festival.
Handicapped accessible at both locations and an elevator is available to second floor of main lobby.

April 15:  Town of Easton Rabies Clinic
The Town of Easton will be holding a Rabies Clinic on Sunday April 15, 2018. The Clinic will be held at the Easton Police Station, 46 Lothrop St. from 9AM-12PM. Cats from 9:00 am to 10:00 am; Dogs from 10:00 am to Noon. All dogs must be on a leash and cats should be in carriers. The charge for the vaccine is $10.00. April 17:  Bereavement Support Group - Financial Considerations for Widows

Held at Queset House at 51 Main Street; North Easton, MA 02356 from 6-7:30 PM. Join this support group for widows put on by Residences at the Five Corners. Men and women welcome. Meet others who have gone through a similar loss and learn tangible financial tips to help guide you so you are not alone. Easton Financial Advisor, Nora Yousif, will be the guest presenter discussing financial considerations all widows should be aware of including: Social Security tips to maximize your benefit, helping ensure money lasts, and investment mistakes to avoid.

May 5:  NRT's Spring Farm Festival
Saturday, May 5th from 10am - 2pm *Rain date: Saturday, May 19, 2018. Admission: $20 per family of 5
Join us for a day of games, vendors, and farm fun at NRT's 2018 Spring Farm Festival! Admission includes all activities, such as seed planting, "Touch a Tractor" discovery area, toddler play area, yard games, chicken feeding, arts and crafts, face painting and more! A variety of local vendors and non-profit organizations will also be attending! Food will be available at additional cost.
