LOCAL GOVERNMENT NEWS AND NOTICES
Sunday's on June 10 - July 15 - July 29:  Dedication of Squares for World War I Veterans KIA
The Veterans' of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Pvt. George F. Schindler Post No. 2547 will be marking the Centennial of the deaths of three of Easton's Veterans, who were Killed In Action (KIA) in France during the Great War. These Squares will be dedicated as follows:  Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 1PM - at 77 Center Street for 1st Lieutenant George Searle Shepard, WWI Veteran KIA in France. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 1PM - at the Corner of Williams and Jenny Lind Street for Private George Francis Schindler, WWI Veteran KIA in France. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 1PM - at Main Street, entrance to the Sheep Pasture, for 2nd Lieutenant Oliver Ames Jr., WWI Veteran KIA in France. Proclamations for each veteran will be read on those days and the ceremonies should be approximately one half hour. This dedication will have a rifle salute as well. Senator Walter F. Timilty and Representative Claire D. Cronin are scheduled to read the proclamations. Easton Board of Selectmen will lay the wreaths. All are Welcome!
Bay Road and Main Street Paving
As part of our pavement management program, paving will begin on Tuesday June 12th and continue for approximately one week. The paving will involve the installation of an ultra-thin bonded asphalt overlay. This treatment, also known as Nova Chip, will be placed on portions of Bay Road (Norton TL to Sawmill Lane, Five Corners to Beaver Dam Road, and Kingsley Road to Sharon TL) and a portion of Main Street (Seaver Street to Washington Street). Fiscal Year 2019 Budget for the Town of Easton and Easton Public Schools Now Available
The Town Administrator's Balanced Budget is now available in a comprehensive document that contains both the operating and capital budgets for Fiscal Year 2019. The budget information is presented in a helpful and user friendly format that includes a citizen's guide to the budget, a budget summary for each department, and a glossary of common municipal finance terminology. Notice from the Assessors:  Cyclical Inspections of Property
The Easton Assessors' Office is in the process of doing cyclical inspections of real estate properties throughout the town, as well as inspections for building permits pulled between July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018 and new sales. The inspections are being done during the next few months with inspectors going door-to-door throughout neighborhoods to do inspections of both the interior and exterior of properties. Bristol County Mosquito Control
Bristol County Mosquito Control will be accepting spray requests beginning on May 21, 2018. This mailbox will not be monitored until May 21, 2018 and no spray requests made will be honored before May 21, 2018. Notice of Board and Committee Term Expirations and Vacancies as of June 30, 2018
Applications for appointments to Boards, Commissions, Committees and Councils will be accepted at the Board of Selectmen's Office, Town Office, 136 Elm Street, North Easton, MA 02356 until Friday, June 1, 2018. Incumbents with terms expiring on June 30, 2018 are open to re-appointment but in order to be considered also need to reapply by completing the online volunteer application form. Queset Sewer Construction
The Queset Sewer Project is now under construction. The project will provide sewer service to the Queset Sewer District which includes Washington from Roosevelt Drive to County Lane, and includes portions of Belmont Street, Plymouth Drive, and County Lane. Now through August:  Free Easton Community
Easton Community Calendars covering September 2017 through August 2018 are now available at the Town Offices, Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Frothingham Memorial Hall, and all Easton branches of North Easton Savings Bank. Town information, school events, and civic organization happenings are included. The FREE calendars are provided by North Easton Savings Bank, for the residents of Easton.

Week of June 11:  Bulky Item Pick-up
The week of June 11, 2018 will be the next "FREE BULK ITEM" pick-up week for Waste Management customers. If you are in our Waste Management program, you can put one (1) large item curbside on your regular trash day to be picked up at no charge to you. No need to call the office, just have your item out at 7AM. You can find the list of acceptable items on the Town's website. Any questions call the DPW @ 508-230-0800.

Year 2025 Easton will Celebrate 300th Birthday - Fund for Donating
Easton has a great 300th Birthday Celebration in the year 2025. A fund has been established by the Avery Lee Williams Family Trust to which donations may be made. This fund already has over $13,000.00 in it. To make such donation just send your check payable to the Town of Easton at the Town Treasurer's office, 136 Elm Street, North Easton, MA 02356 - be certain to put the words "330th Celebration Fund" on the miscellaneous line.

June 10:  D-Day and Beyond Tribute - Easton Historical Society

At 2PM on June 10th the Easton Historical Society will host Neil Kozol, O. D., a local businessman, who will describe the incredible experiences of his father Frank "Paul" Kozol. In "To the Fire of Normandy and Beyond" Frank, a graduate of Dorchester High School, is trained to be an army medic. However, his skill in communicating in French will result in his "volunteering" to be embodied with the French Resistance behind enemy lines. Assigned to both the CIC (Counter Intelligence Corps) and the CIC (Criminal Investigation Division), his life-threating experiences were extraordinary. By listening to the heroism described, one will gain a deeper appreciation of military commitment.

June 21:  Experience Cryptocurrency Trading in Real Life

Thursday, June 21st from 6:30-7:30PM, local investor and cryptocurrency aficionado Phil Kazlauskas will provide some insights on the various cryptocurrencies that are currently transforming our financial world, and teach you how to safely buy, send, and store your assets. June 30:  Easton Town Pool Opens
The Easton Town Pool opens for the season on Saturday, June 30th at 12PM with free admission on opening day! It's a perfect way to start the summer with some fun in the sun! Don't forget to sign up early to enjoy the pool as often as possible. This year we have weekend swim lessons and we are open 7 days a week. The Easton Town Pool is a fun filled place that everyone can enjoy. July 9 through August 17:  Easton Recreation Full Day Summer Program
This program is for children ages 6-13 (14-15 for the Work-Reation Program). The program is held at the Easton Middle School. The new extended hours are 8:30AM-4:00PM. There are (6) one-week sessions starting July 9th running through August 17th that will include fun filled activities throughout the day. Each session includes one field trip, a day of swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more. Register now for your child to take part in some summer fun! September 22:  2018 Easton Out of the Darkness Walk at Borderland State Park
Join the walk!  The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention leads the fight against suicide.
Funds raised from The Out of the Darkness Walks allow us to fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Walk Location: Borderland State Park - North Easton, MA. Parking will be available at Oliver Ames High School and busses will be running from Oliver Ames to Borderland State Park. Check-in and Registration Time: September 22, 2018 at 9AM. Walk Begins at 10AM and Ends at 12PM.
