Queset Sewer Construction
The Queset Sewer Project is now under construction. The project will provide sewer service to the Queset Sewer District which includes Washington from Roosevelt Drive to County Lane, and includes portions of Belmont Street, Plymouth Drive, and County Lane. For the week of April 2nd, the contractor will be installing gravity sewer on County Lane.
DPW Storm Cleanup
The DPW is currently working on storm cleanup of tree debris from town property. We anticipate this effort will take many weeks. As part of this process and to be eligible for any potential FEMA funds that may become available our crews are documenting all debris collected and we are also videoing all completed areas. The DPW does not have the resources to collect debris from private property. As a service for residents, the Town will be hosting a tree debris drop-off for residents (no commercial landscapers or tree companies please) on April 14th between the hours of 8AM and 2PM at the former landfill located at 114 Prospect Street. Based on demand other dates may be added as needed.

April 15:  Town of Easton Rabies Clinic

The Town of Easton will be holding a Rabies Clinic on Sunday April 15th. The Clinic will be held at the Easton Police Station, 46 Lothrop Street, Easton from 9AM-12PM. Cats from 9-10AM, Dogs from 10AM-12PM. All dogs must be on a leash and cats should be in carriers. The charge for the vaccine is $10.00. Please call Animal Control with any questions at (508) 230-3353.
April 21:  Residential Sharps Collection
As part of the Easton Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, Residential Sharps will be accepted at the Council on Aging, 15 Barrows Street, Easton from 8AM-12PM. Sharps must be secured in a capped, puncture resistant plastic container, such as a laundry detergent bottle. No loose sharps will be accepted at this collection. For additional ways to dispose of this item, please go to the Easton Board of Health website.
April 21:  Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Please be aware that on Saturday, April 21st, the Water Division will also be hosting the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the DPW facility located at 130 Center Street between 8A-12PM. In addition to accepting household hazardous waste, The Lions' Club will be present at the DPW to accept appliances and larger items for a fee. April 21:  Keep Easton Beautiful - 3rd Annual Great Easton Cleanup
Please join Keep Easton Beautiful in partnership with the Town of Easton DPW for our annual Great Easton Cleanup<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/great-massachusetts-clean-up-2018-easton-ma-registration-43006598895> on SATURDAY April 21st at 8AM-11:30AM (volunteer for any amount of time you are available). Come out with friends and neighbors to volunteer for the Town of Easton and clean up YOUR neighborhood in this family friendly event. All who register by April 5, 2018, receive a Keep Easton Beautiful safety t-shirt, free post-cleanup refreshments, raffle prizes given at random to registered volunteers and fun entertainment at our volunteer thank you party from 11:30AM-1PM groups. April 23:  12PM Deadline to Apply for an Absentee Ballot - Annual Town Election
Absentee Ballots for the Annual Town Election are now available at the Town Clerk's Office. Absentee Ballots are available for registered voters who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to absence from the Town during normal polling hours, physical disability preventing them from going to the polling place or religious belief. Registered voters must fill out an application<https://eastontownma.documents-on-demand.com/Document/b5791743-ccbd-e711-80bf-001fbc00ed85/Absentee%20Ballot%20Application%20-%202018%20Easton.pdf> which will allow them to complete an absentee ballot at the Town Clerks office or to have one mailed to them. The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is Monday, April 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon. Completed ballots must be received at the Town Clerks Office by the close of polls on Election Day (Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 8PM). Get out and vote. YOUR VOTE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

May 2:  Public Input Summit
The 524 Depot Street Master Plan Team wants to know your thoughts on Easton's recreational needs. The Board of Selectmen appointed the 524 Depot Street Master Plan Team to develop a master plan recommending the best use of the 524 Depot Street Property. Join us on May, 2, 2018 at 7:00 at the Richardson Olmsted cafetorium and let us know what your thoughts. Now through August:  Free Easton Community
Easton Community Calendars covering September 2017 through August 2018 are now available at the Town Offices, Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Frothingham Memorial Hall, and all Easton branches of North Easton Savings Bank. Town information, school events, and civic organization happenings are included. The FREE calendars are provided by North Easton Savings Bank, for the residents of Easton.
The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

·        Town Hall (136 Elm St., Mary Connolly Room, 2nd Floor) - Monday, April 23 (3PM-4PM)

Sign up Now for a Community Garden Plot at Wheaton Farm
The Easton Agricultural and Conservation Commissions invite you to register for a plot at the community garden at Wheaton Farm. The gardens are located right by the Wheaton Farm parking lot on Bay Road just south of the junction with Prospect Street. Plots are available within a fenced enclosure with full sun, running water, and a storage shed. Rental for a full plot (20 feet by 20 feet) is $75 and for a ½ plot (10 by 10) is $55 for the season. Plot rentals are going quickly. Foster Parent Recruitment for the Department of Children and Families
Is there room in your home and heart for a foster child?  The Department of Children and Families is actively recruiting foster parents for children in Easton coming into care. We are searching for individuals or families with the love and patience to help foster children. You can be single, married, partnered, divorced or widowed. You can own your home or rent. We need homes for children aged 0 to 22, which include sibling groups, children with special needs, medically involved children, and infants born, exposed to drugs and older teens. We are looking for long-term foster homes but also have a need for emergency and respite homes, which involve a shorter time commitment on the part of a foster family. Our goal is to provide our foster children with a supportive and healing environment in a home in their own community until they can be reunited with their families or another plan can be made on their behalf. The rewards of providing daily care, guidance and acceptance are immeasurable. Saturday's:  Volunteers Needed to Support the Farmer's Market at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall
The Easton Agricultural Commission has increased the number of special activities planned for the year-round Saturday Market. If you'd like to support these community events, please consider volunteering for a few hours on a Saturday morning. Events planned through the end of April include: kids planting activity; musician; food demonstration; Earth Day upcycling event and continuing the popular guided tours of the historic Hall itself. If you don't have the time to volunteer, there is no better way to show your support then to shop with our local vendors - Jordan Brothers Seafood; Foxboro (Meats and Cheese); Langwater Farm (Produce - accepts HIP); Bridgewater Village Bakery; Captivating Twists (Baked Goods); Rosie Bud Farm (Honey); Oakdale Farm (Produce - accepts HIP); and All Hands In (non-profit natural personal care products that provide for women survivors of human trafficking). 3rd Tuesday Every Month:  Sewing Machine One-on-One
Have you previously sewn on a sewing machine but find yourself without one?  Not to worry the Ames Free Library has a sewing machine available for your use in the Queset House. Schedule a time with Kathy Korona so that she can introduce you to the Necchi sewing machine. Once you have used the Necchi sewing machine in the 30-minute tutorial you can check out the machine for in library use. Sessions are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 3PM & 3:30PM, and are by appointment only. Please schedule your session on our website or call 508-238-2000, ext. 3. Event Location:  Queset House, 2nd Floor Makerspace.
April 14:  Kid's Planting Activity at the Easton Farmer's Market
Calling all children ages 4-12 to bring an adult and a small container to the Original Easton Farmer's Market and start some seeds with us! From 11AM-1PM this event will teach children basic information on what plants need to grow and how to take care of them. We will provide the seeds and soil, you just need to bring a container, we recommend a cardboard egg carton cut in half so they can be directly planted into a pot or the ground. Once the plants are large enough, you can plant them outside so your child(ren) can continue to watch their plants grow throughout the summer! As usual, the other vendors will be selling their delicious produce, breads, local meats, and cheese during the market hours from 10AM-2PM at the beautiful Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, 3 Barrows Street, North Easton. Suggested donation = $3. Don't have a place to plant outside this summer? Ed Hands can provide parents with more information about renting a plot at the Wheaton Farm Community Garden. As usual, the other vendors will be selling their delicious produce, breads, local meats, and cheese during the market hours from 10AM-2PM at the beautiful Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, 3 Barrows Street, North Easton.
April 17:  Bereavement Support Group - Financial Considerations for Widows

Held at Queset House at 51 Main Street; North Easton, MA 02356 from 6-7:30 PM. Join this support group for widows put on by Residences at the Five Corners. Men and women welcome. Meet others who have gone through a similar loss and learn tangible financial tips to help guide you so you are not alone. Easton Financial Advisor, Nora Yousif, will be the guest presenter discussing financial considerations all widows should be aware of including: Social Security tips to maximize your benefit, helping ensure money lasts, and investment mistakes to avoid.

April 18:  Easton Garden Club - Jackson Madnick Workshop

Special Easton Garden Club Meeting, free and open to the public. Wednesday, April 18th at 6:30PM, Frothingham Senior Center, Barrows Street, Easton. Tips for the Ultimate Green Home, Health & Lawn Workshop. Speaker Jackson Madnick will give a one-hour workshop with PowerPoint presentation followed by 10-15 minutes of Q&A. Topics discussed are based on the very latest 2017 research. Tips Include: healthier home and work environment, minor life style modifications allowing longer life span both humans and dogs, quality of life, time and money savings and 75% water reduction.

April 21:  Musician Julian Rollins returns to Play at the Original Easton Farmer's Market

>From 10AM-2PM Julian Rollins with the One Man Band returns to play for us again during market hours If you like what you hear, tip your musician. Information will be provided, about all of the great Earth Day Events going on around Easton.
April 28th:  Tour of the Historic Oak Ames Memorial Hall during the Farmer's Market
The Original Easton Farmers Market will be in the downstairs hall (as usual) selling their delicious produce, breads, local meats, and cheese during the market hours from 10AM-2PM. Ed Hands and Fred Ames will give tours of the interior, so you can learn more about the beautiful Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, 3 Barrows Street, North Easton. Fred and Ed will be giving tours at 11AM and 1PM. Coffee and treats provided while you wait for the tour to begin. Free Event.

April 29:  Annual Water Division Open House

May 5:  NRT's Spring Farm Festival
Saturday, May 5th from 10am - 2pm *Rain date: Saturday, May 19, 2018. Admission: $20 per family of 5
Join us for a day of games, vendors, and farm fun at NRT's 2018 Spring Farm Festival! Admission includes all activities, such as seed planting, "Touch a Tractor" discovery area, toddler play area, yard games, chicken feeding, arts and crafts, face painting and more! A variety of local vendors and non-profit organizations will also be attending! Food will be available at additional cost. Please note: For safety reasons, dogs and pets are not allowed on day of event. Thank you for your cooperation. May 12:  National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
Saturday, May 12th marks the 26th anniversary of one of America's great days of giving - the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp out Hunger Food Drive. Participating in this year's Letter Carrier Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is simple. Just leave a non-perishable food donation in a bag at your mailbox on Saturday, May 12th and your letter carrier will do the rest. We invite you to join in America's great day of giving and help us in our fight to end hunger.
May 22:  Annual Taste of Easton
The Easton Chamber of Commerce is holding the 11th annual Taste of Easton at Stonehill College on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The Chamber invites all Easton area restaurants, caterers and beverage companies to participate in the tasting venue. Additionally the Business Expo offers local business sponsor and exhibitor opportunities. Registration forms can be downloaded from the event website at www.tasteofeaston.com<http://www.tasteofeaston.com>. The deadline for submission is April 27. Tickets for the Taste of Easton will go on sale April 21 at both Bank of Easton branches, Shaw's and Roche Bros in Easton, and online through the event website.
