Department of Public Works Accepting Applications for Snow Plow Contractors for Winter 2017/18
The Town of Easton Department of Public Works is accepting applications for snow plowing contractors for the 2017 - 2018 winter season. Notice from the Assessors:  Cyclical Inspections of Property
The Easton Assessors' Office is in the process of doing cyclical inspections of real estate properties throughout the town, as well as inspections for building permits and new sales. The inspections are being done during the next few months with inspectors going door-to-door throughout neighborhoods to do inspections of both the interior and exterior of properties. Free Easton Community
Easton Community Calendars covering September 2017 through August 2018 are now available at the Town Offices, Ames Free Library, Easton Historical Society, Frothingham Memorial Hall, and all Easton branches of North Easton Savings Bank. Town information, school events, and civic organization happenings are included. The FREE calendars are provided by North Easton Savings Bank, for the residents of Easton.

September 25 Deadline:  Woodstove Change-Out Program Extension
The Mass Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is extending the 2017 Woodstove Change-Out Program deadline to Sept. 25.  Any Mass resident or business currently operating a non-EPA-certified wood stove or fireplace insert is eligible for a rebate of up to $1,750 when replacing an existing stove with an eligible model.  Those that meet certain income requirements are eligible for rebates of up to $3,000.
If you own an old wood stove and would like to replace it with a new, low-emission EPA-certified wood or pellet stove, visit MassCEC's website<http://www.masscec.com/get-clean-energy/residential/commonwealth-woodstove-changeout> to find out more.  You will need to contact a local stove professional<http://www.masscec.com/finding-participating-stove-professional> who will confirm that your stove is eligible and submit a rebate application on your behalf after installing your new stove.
Now through September 30:  Phase II Water Restrictions in Place in Easton
Mandatory outside water restrictions are in place from May 1st to September 30th. This action is necessary to be in compliance with the Town's Water Management Act Permit. Phase II restricts water on an even/odd basis as follows:

  *   Customers at even-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  *   Customers at odd-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Handheld hoses will be allowed anytime.
Now through November 6:  CPA Project Eligibility Applications Available

The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

*        Town Hall (136 Elm St., Mary Connolly Room, 2nd Floor) - Monday, September 25 (3PM-4PM)

*        Parker Terrace Community Room - Tuesday, October 3 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

Saturday's Through October 28:  Original Easton Farmer's Market Open
The Original Easton Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 10:00AM-2:00PM at the S-Curve on Depot Street near Shaw's Grocery Store.  Come meet the farmers that grow a bounty of fresh flowers, vegetables, fruits, fresh honey, cheese, and other locally produced items. July 29-End of Summer:  Launch of Easton Bike Share
The Old Colony YMCA-Easton, 25 Elm Street, North Easton, is launching the Healthy Easton Bike Share Program on Saturday, July 29.  Bike share hours will be Saturdays and Sundays, with rentals beginning at 10:00AM and return deadline of 4:00PM. September 15-16:  The Shovel Town 10-Minute Play Festival Returns for a Third Year

The 10-Minute Play Festival is presented by Stedfast School of Music & the Easton Shovel Town Cultural District. Performances will be held Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th at 7:30PM. Oakes Ames Memorial Hall is located at 3 Barrows Street, North Easton. General Admission tickets are available in advance for $15.00 at Stedfast School of Music & Arts, Bank of Easton, and on-line at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3042365. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 and $18 for students and seniors. Last September, The Second Annual Shovel Town 10-Minute Play Festival was a wonderful evening of drama, comedy, and live music that had the audience cheering. This year's Festival promises to deliver even more. Featuring over thirty local actors and directors of all ages, this is an affordable night of entertainment for the whole family.

September 16:  The Easton Garden Club Fall Plant Sale

Saturday, September 16th from 9AM-1PM the EGC will be selling Chrysanthemums, Asters, native garden-dug perennials, shrubs, trees, and bulbs for fall planting.  Garden Masters will be on hand for gardening questions. Located at the Yardley-Wood Skating Rink at the Center School on Depot Street, South Easton.

September 17:  ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival
This film festival is a true mosaic as it attracts entries for other countries as well as Easton itself.  So many cultures are represented in the entries.  It is exciting to see how entries from different countries express their creativity.
Mark your calendars to save the date for the Premiere of the ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival.  The Premier will take place on Sunday September 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall in Easton. September 23:  Semi-Annual Ken Martin Bottle and Can Drive
Saturday, September 23rd from 9AM-1PM, the semi-annual Ken Martin Bottle and Can Drive will be held at the Easton Historical Society, 80 Mechanic Street. The money raised will be used towards the insurance of the station. For pickups, call 508-238-7774.

September 24:  Annual Harvest Road Race
We are excited to announce the upcoming Annual Harvest Road Race on Sunday, September 24th at 9:00am! The 5K run/walk and 10K run will start and finish at Old Colony YMCA's Easton Branch, wrapping up with a post-race party and awards ceremony.
Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Easton Branch Annual Campaign with an emphasis on this year's LIVESTRONG(r) Program.  LIVESTRONG(r) at the YMCA is a 12-week wellness program, provided free of charge for cancer survivors, that builds physical, emotional, and spiritual strength and self-confidence. October 1:  2017 NRT Harvest and Crafts Fair
The NRT's 2017 Harvest and Crafts Fair will be held Sunday, October 1 from 10:00AM-4:00PM.  All proceeds from the fair are used directly to support the operation of the Sheep Pasture's animal areas, trails and conservation property, as well as other activities that support the mission of the NRT. October 1:  Unity Public Art Project is coming to NRT's Harvest Fair
Interactive public art project examines how labels both help and hinder our ability to build unity as a community and as a human race. The Natural Resources Trust (NRT) and Easton's Human Rights Committee are pleased to announce that UNITY is coming to Easton October 1st at the 44th NRT Harvest Fair. The UNITY project is a circle of 32 10-foot poles, each of which represents a Human Identifier (e.g., I am a parent, I live with a disability, I speak English as a second language). Participants tie yarn around the identifiers that describe them, creating an interconnected web of yarn-a physical structure that shows how our uniqueness actually makes us connected. NRT & Easton's Human Rights Committee, located at the Sheep Pasture, 307 Main Street, North Easton, MA, 10AM-4PM. We believe that UNITY can renew the spirit of optimism, camaraderie, and respectfulness in our community. Please join us. Want to help? October 14:  Annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K - Local 2790 Easton Firefighters
The Local 2790 Easton Firefighters STOP, DROP and RUN 5K will take place Saturday, October 14th at 9AM. Starting location is 48 Lothrop Street, Easton, MA  02356. Registration at Eastonfire5k.com<http://Eastonfire5k.com>. Annual Open House to follow the race.
October 28-29:  Sheep Pasture SPOOKTACULAR
