July 29-End of Summer:  Launch of Easton Bike Share
The Old Colony YMCA-Easton, 25 Elm Street, North Easton, is launching the Healthy Easton Bike Share Program on Saturday, July 29.  Bike share hours will be Saturdays and Sundays, with rentals beginning at 10:00AM and return deadline of 4:00PM. August 1:  Meet with State Senator Walter F. Timilty

August 13:  Easton Recreation Department Hosting Dale and the Duds

Dale and the Duds Concert at Frothingham Park!! The Easton Recreation Department is hosting a free Dale and the Duds concert on Sunday, August 13th from 3:00PM-5:00PM at Frothingham Park.
Easton Recreation Children's Races (Ages 2 - 12):

The Easton Recreation Department will be holding children's races (ages 2-12) at Frothingham Park on Thursdays from July 13 - August 24 at 6:00PM. In case of rain, races will be cancelled. Easton Recreation Full Day Summer Program - Space available in all sessions, sign up now!!
This program is for children ages 6-13 (14-15 for the Workreation Program). The program is held at the Easton Middle School from 9:00AM-3:00PM. There are 6 one-week sessions starting July 10th running through August 18th that include fun filled activities throughout the day. Each session includes one field trip, a day of swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more. Register now for your child to take part in some summer fun! Real Estate Exemption Applications for FY2018 Now Available
Applications for Real Estate property tax exemptions for FY2018 are now available through the Easton Assessors' Office. The town offers many exemptions designed to reduce property tax for qualifying seniors and disabled residents. Exemptions include: Elderly, for those age 65 and older who qualify by income and assets; widow, widower, persons over 70 or minor surviving child with asset limit; disabled veterans, blind, tax deferral and Community Preservation Act with income limits. Now through August 31: Complete Streets Data Collection Underway
Easton is working to make its streets more friendly and accessible for walkers, mobile device users and bicyclists.  Help us identify potential road hazards and obstacles. Now through September 30: Phase II Water Restrictions in Place in Easton
Mandatory outside water restrictions are in place from May 1st to September 30th. This action is necessary to be in compliance with the Town's Water Management Act Permit. Phase II restricts water on an even/odd basis as follows:

  *   Customers at even-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  *   Customers at odd-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Handheld hoses will be allowed anytime.
The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

*         Parker Terrace Community Room - Tuesday, August 1 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*         Frothingham Hall - COA (15 Barrows St) Thursday, August 10 (10:30AM-11:30AM)

*         Elise Circle Community Room - Tuesday, August 15 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*         Town Hall (136 Elm St., Mary Connolly Room, 2nd Floor) - Monday, August 28 (3PM-4PM)

July 31-August 4: Activities at the Children's Museum in Easton
The Children's Museum in Easton has a week of fun drop-in activities and workshops in store for you!

*         Monday, July 31: 1:00PM-3:00 PM.  Have Sew Much Fun as you learn the basics of the sewing machine.

*         Tuesday, August 1: 10:00AM-12:00PM. Dress for a mess as you get ready to make Crazy Concoctions. Create delightfully messy materials like gak, slime, and ooblek.

*         Wednesday, August 2: 11:00AM.  Clown around with our favorite magician, Awesome Robb as he shares the secrets he learned at Clown College

*         Wednesday, August 2: 1:00PM-3:00PM. Don't miss a beat while master drummer Tony Fonseca plays a continuous, heart-pounding beat and encourages visitors to join his drum circle.

*         Thursday, August 3: During Dino Day, dig for fossils, create your own and make some cool dino crafts. At 11:00AM, New England Reptile and Raptor will introduce you to some real-life relatives of the dinosaurs in this live animal program.

*         Friday, August 4: 10:00AM-11:00AM.  Learn an introduction to ballet in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere during Ballet for Beginners.

*         Friday, August 4: 10:00AM-12:00PM. Have Sew Much Fun in our Makerspace as you learn to use a sewing machine and make a fun craft to take home.

*         Friday, August 4: 12:00PM-1:00PM. Head on over to our Dance Party and boogie the afternoon away.

July 31: Queset Garden- Alex the Jester
Whoosh!  In the blink of an eye, a drab monk becomes a colorful court jester! He's light on his feet as he dazzles with his stunts and gets you howling with his gags.  Alexander, King of Jesters, is ready to delight and amaze you.  Come join us at the Queset Garden on Monday, July 31 from 6:00PM-7:00PM for this event.  The event will be moved to Oakes Ames Memorial Hall in case of rain.
August 1: Family Paint Night at the Children's Museum of Easton
Join us on Tuesday, August 1 from 4:30PM-6:30PM for a Family Paint Night at the Children's Museum of Easton.  Enjoy paint, pizza and punch outdoors in the Museum's Wild Place!  Do something creative with your child and immerse yourselves in a 3D hands-on learning opportunity! Pizza, punch, a 16"x20" canvas, acrylic paint and supplies are all included. This class is recommended for children ages 6 and up. Step-by-step instruction by Judith Murray Smith, Art Instructor Massachusetts Certified #216807, B.A. Art, M.Ed., Special Ed.
$25 for 2 people; $15 each additional person (please dress to mess). Children under 8 must have adult present. Space is limited - pre-registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome if space allows.

August 8: Once Upon a Startup - Writing Workshops with Kate Klise
Bank of England staffers are studying Dr. Seuss books to improve their writing skills.  Author-in-residence Kate Klise will be doing something similar.  Kate will help innovative entrepreneurs and business owners find and tell their business plans by writing simple children's books!  This not-to-be-missed opportunity is free and open to all.  Weekly attendance is not required.  Drop-ins are welcome. This meeting with Kate will be at the Queset House on Tuesday, August 8 from 6:30PM-7:30PM, 1st Floor Presentation Commons.
Kate Klise has written 30 books and led writing workshops for aspiring authors of all ages and levels. She enjoys sharing her tips and tricks of the trade. She will also be available to help anyone trying to start or finish a writing project, including high school seniors working on their college essays. Now through August 15: Entries Accepted for International Film Festival
Tick Tock...Easton Community Access Television (ECAT) is announcing its call for its 100 Second International Film Festival.  You still have time to submit your entry for this exciting exhibition of international shorts.  The deadline for entries is August 15, 2017.  Entries may include, but are not limited to, documentaries, shorts, animation, experimental or music.  Your only constraint is that your film must not exceed 100 seconds.
This film festival is a true mosaic as it attracts entries for other countries as well as Easton itself.  So many cultures are represented in the entries.  It's exciting to see how entries from different countries express their creativity, said Jason Daniels, Executive Director of ECAT and the Festival Provider.
Mark your calendars to save the date for the Premiere of the ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival. August 28: Touch a Truck!
Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at the Queset House 51 Main Street, North Easton. For everyone who has ever wondered what a special vehicle looks like close-up, the library is presenting Touch a Truck! Several vehicles from the Town of Easton, the Easton Fire Department, and the Easton Police will be parked at the library so you can see all of the details, hear what they sound like, and even touch their shiny finish. Also, bring a picnic and enjoy the Queset Garden on your last Monday before school starts! September 17:  ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival

Now Through October 28:  Original Easton Farmer's Market Open
The Original Easton Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 10:00AM-2:00PM on the S-Curve on Depot Street near Shaw's Grocery Store. Lots of summer vegetables and berries are available at the Market, and the folks at Confectionary Confections are using their professional kitchen to produce breads and other baked goods-give them a try.
