Notice of Vacancies on Boards/Committees
The Board of Selectmen is accepting applications from interested volunteers seeking to fulfill the following vacant seats for the indicated boards and committees in the Town of Easton:

*         Affordable Housing Trust - 1 seat available

*         Agricultural Commission - 1 seat available

*         Economic Development Council - 1 seat available

*         Historical Commission - 1 seat available

*         Human Rights Committee - 1 seat available

*         Public Spaces Committee - 1 seat available

Easton Recreation Children's Races (Ages 2 - 12):

The Easton Recreation Department will be holding children's races (ages 2-12) at Frothingham Park on Thursdays from July 13 - August 24 at 6:00PM. In case of rain, races will be cancelled. Easton Recreation Department Ultimate Frisbee League - Summer 2017

The Easton Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the Ultimate Frisbee League for summer 2017. Come out and play one of the most fun and fastest growing sports in North America! Beginners and old huckers alike are invited to play Ultimate Frisbee in Easton this summer. Experienced players will teach the game to beginners and intermediate players. Open to boys and girls entering Grade 8 through Adult. Easton Recreation Full Day Summer Program - Openings Still Available
This program is for children ages 6-13 (14-15 for the Workreation Program). The program is held at the Easton Middle School from 9:00AM-3:00PM. There are 6 one-week sessions starting July 10th running through August 18th that include fun filled activities throughout the day. Each session includes one field trip, a day of swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more. Register now for your child to take part in some summer fun! Now through September 30: Phase II Water Restrictions in Place in Easton
Mandatory outside water restrictions are in place from May 1st to September 30th. This action is necessary to be in compliance with the Town's Water Management Act Permit. For more information on the web, please go to water restrictions<http://www.easton.ma.us/departments/dpw/water_division/water_restriction.php>.
Phase II restricts water on an even/odd basis as follows:

  *   Customers at even-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  *   Customers at odd-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Handheld hoses will be allowed anytime.
The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

*         Parker Terrace Community Room - Tuesday, July 11 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*         Frothingham Hall - COA (15 Barrows St) Thursday, July 13 (10:30AM-11:30AM)

*         Elise Circle Community Room - Tuesday, July 18 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*         Town Hall (136 Elm St., Mary Connolly Room, 2nd Floor) - Monday, July 24 (3PM-4PM)

Community News and Events
Now Through October 28:  Original Easton Farmer's Market Open
The Original Easton Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 10:00AM-2:00PM on the S-Curve on Depot Street near Shaw's Grocery Store. Lots of summer vegetables and berries are available at the Market, and the folks at Confectionary Confections are using their professional kitchen to produce breads and other baked goods-give them a try. July 9: Viewings at the Easton Historical Society
Join us on Sunday, July 9th from 1:00PM-5:00PM at the Easton Historical Society to view some of the recent donations to the Easton Historical Society including two items associated with "Stonehill" when it was owned by the Ames Family: the famous painting of Dolly Dimple and a wine press. July 12: Trip Talk - Hiking in New Zealand
Join us on Wednesday, July 12 from 6:30PM-7:30PM at the Queset House for a Trip Talk: Hiking in New Zealand.  From mountains and lakes to fjords and lupine, New Zealand is a land filled with gorgeous scenery and friendly people.  One of the best ways to take it all in is hiking and driving through two islands that make up the country.
July 14-15:  The Easton Garden Club to Host "Back to Our Roots" - A Summer Garden Tour
The Easton Garden Club will host "Back to Our Roots" - a summer garden tour of five exquisite Easton gardens on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, from 10:00AM to 4:00 PM. Boxed lunches will be available. Ticket cost is $22 discounted presale, $30 on day of tour.  Tickets can be picked up at the Easton Historical Society and Museum on tour days. July 15 Deadline: Input for Easton Community Calendar
The North Easton Savings Bank is accepting information for the 2017-2018 Easton Community Calendar, which will cover events from September 2017 through August 2018.  The calendar, which will be free to all residents, will include events of community groups, school programs, and civic and religious organizations. Now through August 15: Entries Accepted for International Film Festival
Tick Tock...Easton Community Access Television (ECAT) is announcing its call for its 100 Second International Film Festival.  You still have time to submit your entry for this exciting exhibition of international shorts.  The deadline for entries is August 15, 2017.  Entries may include, but are not limited to, documentaries, shorts, animation, experimental or music.  Your only constraint is that your film must not exceed 100 seconds.
This film festival is a true mosaic as it attracts entries for other countries as well as Easton itself.  So many cultures are represented in the entries.  It's exciting to see how entries from different countries express their creativity, said Jason Daniels, Executive Director of ECAT and the Festival Provider.
Mark your calendars to save the date for the Premiere of the ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival.  The Premier will take place on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall in Easton.  Don't be left out of the exciting opportunity to show your creativity. August 28: Touch a Truck!
Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at the Queset House 51 Main Street, North Easton. For everyone who has ever wondered what a special vehicle looks like close-up, the library is presenting Touch a Truck! Several vehicles from the Town of Easton, the Easton Fire Department, and the Easton Police will be parked at the library so you can see all of the details, hear what they sound like, and even touch their shiny finish. Also, bring a picnic and enjoy the Queset Garden on your last Monday before school starts!
