July 29-End of Summer:  Launch of Easton Bike Share
The Old Colony YMCA-Easton, 25 Elm Street, North Easton, is launching the Healthy Easton Bike Share Program on Saturday, July 29.  Bike share hours will be Saturdays and Sundays, with rentals beginning at 10:00AM and return deadline of 4:00PM. August 13:  Easton Recreation Department Hosting Dale and the Duds

Dale and the Duds Concert at Frothingham Park!! The Easton Recreation Department is hosting a free Dale and the Duds concert on Sunday, August 13th from 3:00PM-5:00PM at Frothingham Park.

August 16:  O'Connell Announces Office Hours

State Representative Shaunna O'Connell will be holding office hours on Wednesday, August 16 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Queset House, located at 53 Main Street, North Easton, MA 02356. Anyone wishing to meet with her may drop in or call 617-722-2305<tel:617-722-2305> to reserve an appointment, including appointments that need to be scheduled outside office hours.
July 13 - August 24: Easton Recreation Children's Races (Ages 2 - 12):

The Easton Recreation Department will be holding children's races (ages 2-12) at Frothingham Park on Thursdays from July 13 - August 24 at 6:00PM. In case of rain, races will be cancelled. Easton Recreation Full Day Summer Program - Space available in all sessions, sign up now!!
This program is for children ages 6-13 (14-15 for the Workreation Program). The program is held at the Easton Middle School from 9:00AM-3:00PM. There are 6 one-week sessions starting July 10th running through August 18th that include fun filled activities throughout the day. Each session includes one field trip, a day of swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more. Register now for your child to take part in some summer fun! Health Promotion Clinic for Residents of Easton
A Health Promotion Clinic for residents of Easton Will Be Held on Thursday, August, 24, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Council On Aging, Frothingham Hall, 15 Barrows Street, Easton. The clinic will provide Total Cholesterol, Blood Pressure and Diabetic (Blood Sugar) Screenings.  Due to the limited number of appointments available, please call the Council On Aging at (508) 238-3160 to schedule an appointment.  No Walk-Ins will be screened. The clinic is free of charge and open to any resident 20 years of age or older.
Real Estate Exemption Applications for FY2018 Now Available
Applications for Real Estate property tax exemptions for FY2018 are now available through the Easton Assessors' Office. The town offers many exemptions designed to reduce property tax for qualifying seniors and disabled residents. Exemptions include: Elderly, for those age 65 and older who qualify by income and assets; widow, widower, persons over 70 or minor surviving child with asset limit; disabled veterans, blind, tax deferral and Community Preservation Act with income limits. Now through August 31: Complete Streets Data Collection Underway
Easton is working to make its streets more friendly and accessible for walkers, mobile device users and bicyclists.  Help us identify potential road hazards and obstacles. Sept 25 Deadline:  Woodstove Change-Out Program Extension
The Mass Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is extending the 2017 Woodstove Change-Out Program deadline to Sept. 25.  Any Mass resident or business currently operating a non-EPA-certified wood stove or fireplace insert is eligible for a rebate of up to $1,750 when replacing an existing stove with an eligible model.  Those that meet certain income requirements are eligible for rebates of up to $3,000.
If you own an old wood stove and would like to replace it with a new, low-emission EPA-certified wood or pellet stove, visit MassCEC's website<http://www.masscec.com/get-clean-energy/residential/commonwealth-woodstove-changeout> to find out more.  You will need to contact a local stove professional<http://www.masscec.com/finding-participating-stove-professional> who will confirm that your stove is eligible and submit a rebate application on your behalf after installing your new stove.
Now through September 30: Phase II Water Restrictions in Place in Easton
Mandatory outside water restrictions are in place from May 1st to September 30th. This action is necessary to be in compliance with the Town's Water Management Act Permit. Phase II restricts water on an even/odd basis as follows:

  *   Customers at even-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  *   Customers at odd-numbered addresses will be restricted to allow lawn watering only on Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 AM and 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Handheld hoses will be allowed anytime.
The Public Health Nurse will be available for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screening for Easton Residents (on a walk in basis, no appointment needed) according to the following schedule:

*        Elise Circle Community Room - Tuesday, August 15 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*        Town Hall (136 Elm St., Mary Connolly Room, 2nd Floor) - Monday, August 28 (3PM-4PM)

*        Parker Terrace Community Room - Tuesday, September 5 (9:30AM-10:30AM)

*        Frothingham Hall - COA (15 Barrows St) Thursday, September 14 (10:30AM-11:30AM)

August 13 Easton Historical Society's Open House
Easton Historical Society's Open House this Sunday, August 13, from 1 to 5 will feature Ames houses
in Easton and elsewhere.  Also on display will be a new acquisition recently purchased through
the efforts of Duncan Oliver, retired OAHS Principal, and unique container of maple syrup compound

August 14-18 at The Children's Museum in Easton
The Children's Museum in Easton has a week of fun drop-in activities and workshops in store for you!

*        Have Fun with Legos on Monday, August 14 from 10am to noon. Embrace your inner architect as you build Lego creations based on a fun theme. After that, have Sew Much Fun in the Makerspace from 1pm to 3pm as you create weaving masterpieces and use a real sewing machine.

*        On Tuesday, August 15, discover STEM engineering at its best! Build huge structures with this oversized system featuring wheels, pulleys and more using Rigamajig. Later, use a variety of tools to sculpt beautiful Playdough creations from 1pm to 3pm.

*        Dance along with the Bubble Music Man during his 1:30pm show on Wednesday, August 16. Learn how to make some crazy bubbles and cool bubble blowers as DJ Rob Peters drops the beat. Experiment with different sized bubbles and have fun making bubble art. Don't forget that the Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and we will be serving cake.

*        Trying to reconnect with the great outdoors? On Thursday, August 17, come to Nature Day and from 10am to 3pm you can discover all the wonderful things we can create with natural materials. Also, from 10am to 1pm, receive a free Identification Card from New York Life, included in Museum admission.

*        From 10am until noon on Friday, August 18, use a variety of tools to sculpt, mold, and design beautiful Playdough creations. Then earn the basics of the sewing machine! Weave on a loom and make a cool project to take home.

Now through August 15: Entries Accepted for International Film Festival
Tick Tock...Easton Community Access Television (ECAT) is announcing its call for its 100 Second International Film Festival.  You still have time to submit your entry for this exciting exhibition of international shorts.  The deadline for entries is August 15, 2017.  Entries may include, but are not limited to, documentaries, shorts, animation, experimental or music.  Your only constraint is that your film must not exceed 100 seconds.
This film festival is a true mosaic as it attracts entries for other countries as well as Easton itself.  So many cultures are represented in the entries.  It's exciting to see how entries from different countries express their creativity, said Jason Daniels, Executive Director of ECAT and the Festival Provider.
Mark your calendars to save the date for the Premiere of the ECAT 100 Second International Film Festival.  The Premier will take place on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall in Easton.  Don't be left out of the exciting opportunity to show your creativity. August 28: Touch a Truck!
Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at the Queset House 51 Main Street, North Easton. For everyone who has ever wondered what a special vehicle looks like close-up, the library is presenting Touch a Truck! Several vehicles from the Town of Easton, the Easton Fire Department, and the Easton Police will be parked at the library so you can see all of the details, hear what they sound like, and even touch their shiny finish. Also, bring a picnic and enjoy the Queset Garden on your last Monday before school starts! September 10 Deadline:  Applications for 2017 NRT Harvest and Crafts Fair
Organizations applying for space must be formal non-profit organizations that are oriented either toward natural resources such as environmental stewardship, animal husbandry, open space management and farming and horticultural practices, or be town or civic organizations supporting educational or cultural activities.  Organizations that do not qualify include partisan political groups, athletic booster clubs, individual fundraisers, and religiously affiliated groups.  The NRT Board of Directors reserves the right to make the final selection of non-profits attending the fair.  Applications received after the Sept. 10th deadline will not be considered. All proceeds from the fair are used directly to support the operation of the Sheep Pasture's animal areas, trails and conservation property, as well as other activities that support the mission of the NRT. Now Through October 28:  Original Easton Farmer's Market Open
The Farmer's Market is open every Saturday form 10:00AM-2:00PM.  The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has proclaimed August 6-12 as National Farmers Market Week.  What better reason to come down to the Original Easton Farmer's Market on the Depot Street S-Curve near Shaw's Grocery Store?  The Market has been operating for 19 continuous years as a key gathering place that helps sustain Easton's sense of community.
