Businesses must File Form of List The Easton Board of Assessors reminds Easton businesses that they must file a Form of List reporting all personal property each year. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59, Section 29, all taxable tangible personal property owned by businesses shall be listed on a Form of List and returned to the Assessors' Office by March 1st. A Form of List can be downloaded from the Assessors' web page . Business owners should complete the form, print, and return to the Easton Board of Assessors, 136 Elm Street, North Easton, MA 02356. Businesses that have not filed by the due date should file immediately or request an extension by writing to the Board of Assessors. Property for businesses that do not file will be estimated. Failure to file could also affect value and a right to appeal. For further information or questions, please call the Board of Assessor at 508-230-0520. Property Inspections The Easton Assessors' Office is in the process of doing cyclical inspections of real estate properties throughout the town and assessing inspections for all recently filed building permits. The inspections are being done over the next several months with inspectors going door-to-door throughout neighborhoods to do inspections of both the interior and exterior of properties. The Department of Revenue requires that every community re-inspect its real estate periodically. As a result, the Easton Board of Assessors inspects some of its property every year. In addition to meeting state requirements, the objective of this project is to assure the accuracy of the Town's assessing data. The inspectors, Robert Alford and Ann Williams, will have Town identification with his or her photograph on it and will not inspect the interior of the property unless a person age 18 or older is present. If no one is available for the interior inspection, a notice will be left on the doorknob requesting that the resident call the Assessors' Office at 508-230-0520 to set up appointment to view the property's interior.
